The Short-Faced bear has been found in several locations from Mexico to Alaska. Short-Faced bears would dwarf today’s brown bears.This specimen, found in Alaska, is from a large male that would have stood nearly 12’ tall. Short-Faced bears became extinct about 10,000-12,000 years ago.
